Guidance has been provided but it's not clear.:
The death rate is becoming clearer as more cases are recorded. The bigger the sample the more reliable the data. It looks to be in the region of 3% but may be less as there may be many unrecorded cases of covid-19 as many cases are mild and sufferers may not realise they are infected and so not report. You can see the number of reported cases and resultant deaths in the WHO website status reports which are published daily.
